KasparChess ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users and their families. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and an encrypted password (or Apple Sign In token). We do not store plaintext passwords.

Child profile information: To provide age-appropriate coaching, we collect your child's first name, birth month, and birth year. We never collect exact birthdates, full names, or photos of children.

Chess platform usernames: We collect Chess.com and/or Lichess usernames you provide. We use these to fetch publicly available game data from those platforms' public APIs.

Usage data: We collect basic usage information such as report generation counts and chat message counts to enforce rate limits and improve our service.

Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe (web) and Apple (iOS App Store). We never see or store your full credit card number. We receive only a subscription status and transaction identifier.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To generate personalized coaching reports based on your child's publicly available chess games
• To provide age-appropriate coaching advice tailored to your child's developmental stage
• To send you email notifications about new coaching reports (if enabled)
• To process payments and manage your subscription
• To improve our service and fix bugs

3. Children's Privacy

KasparChess is a tool for parents, not for children. Our service is designed to be used by parents or guardians aged 18 and over. Children do not create accounts or interact with our service directly.

The child information we store (first name, birth month/year, chess platform username) is provided by the parent. We minimize data collection to only what is needed for age-appropriate coaching.

We do not display children's names in any publicly accessible pages. Shared coaching reports are access-controlled and blocked from search engine indexing.

4. Data from Chess Platforms

We access only publicly available game data from Chess.com and Lichess.org through their public APIs. This is the same data visible to anyone who views the player's profile on those platforms. We do not access private messages, friend lists, or any non-public information.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

• AI analysis: Game data and child profile information (first name, age) are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate coaching reports. This data is processed under Anthropic's privacy policy and is not used to train AI models.
• Payment processing: Stripe and Apple process payments on our behalf.
• Notifications: If you enable Telegram notifications, your Telegram chat ID is stored to deliver messages.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers hosted by Fly.io in the United States. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device (iOS Keychain on mobile, secure browser storage on web).

7. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen. Account deletion permanently removes all your data, including:

• Your account and email
• All child profiles
• All linked chess accounts
• All coaching reports and chat history
• All subscription records

Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data (visible in the app)
• Correct your data (editable in Settings and child profiles)
• Delete your data (account deletion in Settings)
• Export your data (contact us at martin@kasparchess.com)

9. Cookies and Tracking

KasparChess does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. We do not use any third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. The only local storage we use is for authentication tokens.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email of any material changes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
